The electric and self driving bus has commenced operation in Perth in Australia’s west. The ‘RAC Intellibus’ started carrying passengers and interacting with traffic on 31st August, on a route down the busy South Perth Esplanade.

‘We anticipate this first step in exploring driverless technology will start a conversation on further trials, research and collaboration, which will increase WA’s understanding of how driverless vehicles can integrate into our transport system,’ Terry Agnew, the RAC Group chief executive told local media.

The RAC Intellibus trial route is currently a 25 minute trip, with a maximum capacity for 11 passengers and an average speed of 25km/h.
