News announced a few hours ago is that F1 Race Legend Michael Schumacher is no longer in a coma and has in fact left the hospital where he has been in an induced coma for the last 6 months.
The 7 times F1 world champion suffered sever head trauma in a horrific ski accident in the French Alps in December ’13. He was put into an artificially induced coma almost immediately to assist his recovery.
Michael’s management, Sabine Kehm, said in a statement this afternoon that .. “Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore.”
Sabine went further saying that Michael had been moved to a specialist clinic in Switzerland as he can now respond to outside stimulation including sight and sound.
In a final comment, Sabine relayed a gratitude message form the family ..
“His family would like to expressly thank the excellent work of all physicians, nurses, carers and therapists in Grenoble in the past months, as well as thanking the first respondents on the scene of the accident.
“The family thanks to all the people who sent so many good wishes Michael. You have really helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his rehabilitation will take place outside of the public eye.”
And on that note, we wish Michael a speedy recovery and reunion with his family.
