V8 Supercars have dispelled any speculation regarding unfair advantage gained by Ford’s Prodrive Racing Australia aerodynamic design.

Concerns over the team’s new FG-X Falcons were aired publicly during the Townsville 400 event this month, where Prodrive’s Mark Winterbottom extended his championship lead with a clean sweep of race wins.

Holden Racing Team owner Ryan Walkinshaw made public comment that he was “a big fan of their aero package, not so much them as a team” when he was asked by commentator on his thoughts of the Prodrive’s domination.

In clarifying though, a letter was sent to every team manager in which V8 Supercars technical department has reiterated that aerodynamic parity had been attained for every car in the field during testing in January.

“The aero figures achieved in January have been rechecked and along with the analysis of the on-track performance of all Cars for all VCS race meetings this year to date, the V8SC Technical Department are satisfied that there is no aerodynamic advantage or disadvantage,” the letter concludes.

All types of cars registered in the V8 Supercars have been bench marked against a baseline Ford Falcon FG prototype to ensure that no team has an edge in aerodynamics over the others.
