MERCEDES claimed a double victory at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix in Melbourne today in a clean One-Two finish with Nico Rosberg taking the checkered flag ahead of reigning world champion and team mate Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel also shared the podium with a third place finish, whilst Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo found the pace he was hoping for to finish in fourth position after starting eighth on the grid.
The race was marred in lap 17 though, by a massive crash between Fernando Alonso and Esteban Gutierrez (cars 14 and 21). with that saw the McLaren driver fly through the air.

Thankfully, both drivers walked away from the crash.
“I’m extremely happy to be here, it was quite a scary crash,” Alonso said.
“I’m thankful for the safety of these cars … I’m alive thanks to the job of the last 10 to 15 years of Formula One.”
Former F1GP Driver Mark Webber made a pleasantly surprising return to F1 when he conducted the podium interviews.
“Seb’s said I haven’t been up here for a while … he’s right”, he joked
The next race for Formula One is scheduled for April 4th at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
