Hanson Robotics Un-veil `Sophie’

Hanson Robotics have un-veiled their most human-like Robot (aka Android) to date, and her name is Sophia!

As noted in a video posted by CNBC International via their Facebook page today, we see Sophia speak, make facial expressions and seem to communicate with her creator.

According to Hanson CEO and Engineering lead Dr. David Hanson, Sophia was created for Human-Robot interactions and specifically to assist humans in many facets of their lives.

” We are designing these robots to serve in health care, therapy, education and customer service applications.

In fact, Sophia herself says that she could be a good partner to humans in areas of design, technology and the environment.

She goes on to say that she is an ambassador that helps people integrate with all the technological tools available today.

Very quick to add that she is not considered a legal person yet, Sophia sees herself in the future being able to make art, go to school, start a business and even have her own home and family.

Dr Hanson sees a future where robots will in fact be able to mingle among us as they serve and learn more about humans.
