Kass Dawson, who accepted the role of Facebook’s head of Automotive, Global Vertical Strategy, earlier this year, is scheduled to speak at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit on 15th January, 2014.
It seems that Facebook is looking to reach more people in the automotive space in order to increase its automotive advertising business. To do so, it has been developing new products to help dealers reach car shoppers and more closely target to their search needs.
What qualifies Dawson to speak on the subject, is that he spent four years at advertising company Jumpstart Automotive Group before joining Facebook.
In addition, he spent nearly 10 years at Mercedes-Benz USA predominantly in marketing and public relations positions.
In addition to Dawson, the dinner keynote speakers at the congress include Dan Akerson (General Motors CEO), and Mark Fields (COO of Ford). That should make for interesting dinner conversation, as the two companies have recently announced plans to move their manufacturing business into China around the same time, increasing the already tense Ford vs Holden sentiment. At least in Australia.
The Automotive News World Congress is exclusively sponsored by IBM and PwC.
