Many Interesting Opportunities Emerge for Jake Dolan
To be honest, it hasn’t quite been the year we imagined back in late 2012.
Back then, there were many ‘serious’ expressions of interest to support Jake’s 2013 season financially, but for a variety of reasons, most of those offers fell through when it was actually time to write the check…..;-)…..but for all of us that have been around racing enough, you know that is a common occurrence.
This left Jake with such a limited budget that doing more WERA, AMA, AFM and Chuckwalla events was simply not possible.
However, at this point of the season, we are pleased to say that Jake has completed 7 events in Southern California and Nevada, with quite some success.
27 starts and 19 podiums on a bike, that most would have written off as noncompetitive
The supporters that have been solid to Jake’s season are shown below, and to those people, products and businesses, we both thank you.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Via your dedicated support and also Jake’s on track success, we have created enough interest and profile for a few great opportunities to come Jake’s way.
Firstly, Jake has been offered a 2013 Yamaha R6 from JC Gibbs of Octane Racing. The bike is a Graves prepared bike and the event planned is the AMA national championship event on the same weekend as the World Superbike Championship round at Laguna Seca Raceway, south of San Francisco. This event will be on live TV (CBS), as well as covered by newspapers, magazines and countless internet sites. The chance here is an out rightly competitive bike, in a very competitive field, in front of the world’s media, the best US and International teams, plus a huge live crowd. A good result will finally get Jake noticed and we are pouring our entire efforts into raising the very modest budget required to do this event properly.
At the same event, there is a race for the new eBikes. An electric racing class. The bike brand and team we are talking with is Lightning Motorcycles. They are looking to schedule a test asap and if Jake makes the cut, he will race this famous bike on the same weekend at Laguna Seca. This bike holds the world land speed record, also just won the 2013 Pikes Peak race outright and has potential for 400hp at the rear wheel.
We are also in discussions with a Moto2 chassis manufacturer to do some testing. There is sincere interest and a test day sometime in September.
On September 7/8, Jake will be in New York state to compete at the Unadilla GNCC event for the prestigious KR4 team. He will be riding a 250 Kawasaki in the XC2 class. Nothing like jumping in at the deep end, hey? This premier off road series is the best in the world and the team is promoting their fly in and ride program where competitors of any levels can pay a very modest fee, turn up at the event, have a bike and mechanic supplied and ride in a real GNCC event. Awesome. If this works out well, there are two further dates available to Jake in October. This sport attracts huge fields, huge live crowds, live and repeat TV on NBC and is a favorite with the dedicated media
Finally, as late as today, we are in discussions with a TV producer about doing something featuring Jake. We meet in a fortnight to workshop the ideas about a show or possible involvement with another current show. Stay tuned on this one…..everyone else in this town has a show, so why not Jake ?
