PLAYBOY PARTY – A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM !

Playboy’s Midsummer Night, a Dream Party in Australia !

When Shakespeare first wrote the play `A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, in the 15th Century, he would have had no idea that over 500 years later, the theme would still be alive let alone evolved into a glamorous party!

However visionary Playboy founder Hugh Hefner may have had exactly that vision when the Playboy Mansion became host to the Shakespearean theme in 2007.

Since then, the Playboy party has ventured outside the famous Mansion, to also be featured at the Palms Casino Resort in LA.

Earlier this month however, the themed party also came to Australia for the  first time, with the debut at Docklands in Melbourne, thanks to Christopher Chronis and his team at Global Designer Brands who recently signed a global license with Playboy to stage their events.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an ancient mythical tale of a Greek Duke who married an Amazonian Queen in an enchanted forest wedding surrounded by forest fairies, or angels. So the challenge for the team was to creatively represent this in the Playboy party style.

“The final image was just as I imagined it”, says Christopher, “The venue was themed beautifully by Pure Events from Sydney and it was full of the most
beautiful girls in Australia”.

“Plus we had 100 body painted Mid Summer Nights Dream Angels”.

“We also staged a competition for the Angels whereby they displayed a number on their shoulders and all the patrons were invited to vote for their favourite angel on the website”.

The top two girls voted by the patrons on the night were Nicky Preston and our own Edition 37 cover girl, Emma Brown. Both girls are from Western Australia and both won a trip to the Playboy Mansion in LA to attend a Playboy party.

“All the girls wore tops and bottoms and all looked very sexy but classy”, says Christopher, “The body painting was perfect for the theme of the enchanted
wonderland!”

In addition to the 200 promotional girls, of which 100 were body painted as the Enchanting Forest Angels, the party also featured USA Playboy Bunnies Irina
Voronina
, Summer Altice and Kimberly Phillips. The celebrity glam girls were well received and participated in promoting the event with a street dance choreographed by Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, and media appearances that included MMM radio.

We can imagine that staging such an event is difficult enough, but with added pressure of Australia’s first Playboy Themed Party, there would have been some nerves in the weeks and days leading up to opening night,

” We were very nervous for the whole week leading up to event!”, Christopher tells us, “The day of the event was quite stressful because we all wanted to make sure things were perfect. Fortunately I have a great team and they pulled it off!”

” The team we have put together at GDB is amazing; nothing is too difficult, from developing innovative on line competitions to creating beautiful body painted girls!”

“I will make sure next time I get to enjoy it more, because I spent most of the time making sure everyone else was having a great time!”

Luckily Christopher will have that opportunity again as he and his team are planning three to four Playboy party events per year around Australia at each major city. With this first event attracting 1600 people, there’s no doubt the rest will be bigger still.

Besides co-ordinating events, Christopher also runs a global fashion label by his same name `Christopher Chronis Fashions’..

“Fashion is in my blood so its there to stay. We will translate a lot of the Christopher Chronis look and feel into the Playboy Brand because the customer for me is very similar; Confident, sexy, lives life to the fullest and lives with
passion. Playboy stands for all of that. We design for an attitude”.

As with a number of other celebrities, Brian Mcfadden was in attendance with his beautiful girlfriend Vogue Williams who was also DJ on the night.

Our congratulations to Chris and the team at GDB for a successful Playboy Party debut.

“Thankyou, and I would like to thank everyone who supported the event, especially all our sponsors; Red Hot Pie, Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, High Roller Limos, Lexi Promotions, Glamazons, Royal hair extensions, OPA magazine, Fibonacci stone, dazzlers, My tiny ad , Baroq House and of course all the crew at Shed 14, Docklands who also did a great job”.

  1. Looks like an awesome party. Reminds me of the good ol’ days at the London Playboy Club.
