Perth driver Rhys McNally has claimed Race 2 of Round 6 of the 2015 East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama, Saturday, 10th October.

McNally led from the start on the greasy track in his pristine pink Holden to claim the win in a half wet race.

“It was a good race, the guys kept the pressure on, every lap I could see the rain on my windscreen was getting worse and the track was getting shinier, a few hairy moments across the top but happy to get the win for the team and bring on tomorrow,” said McNally.

Former teammates Nathan Pretty and Craig Dontas went side by side through Reid Park on lap one, battling for second, Dontas had a great drive under pressure the entire race, only able to move away on the last lap when Pretty also came under pressure from George Miedecke and Kris Walton.

“We actually went with a wet tyre set up so the car was pretty good and then it turned average very quickly, so it was just a matter of holding the fort, they (Pretty, Miedecke & Walton) were coming on strong – but we are very happy with a P2 at Bathurst,” said Dontas.

Pretty and Miedecke were side-by side into Murrays Corner, Walton took the opportunity and passed both to claim third for the race, Miedecke followed for fourth leaving Pretty back in fifth.

Ryan Hansford had a great race moving from tenth position to end the race in sixth, ahead of Ryal Harris in seventh. Tasmanian driver Adam Beechey earned himself the DBA Hard Braker Award for overtaking six Utes ending the Race in eighth.

Auto One Holden driver Adam Marjoram held on to ninth, ahead of Jeremy Gray who rounded out the top ten.

Kim Jane and David Sieders walked away disappointed after they were forced out of the race, Jane early from his fifth place position due to a hole in his radiator and Sieders’ Mango Credit Holden stopped on track after a crank angle sensor failure.

Kris Walton currently leads the round on 123points and will start on the front row for tomorrows race, alongside Ryal Harris on 122 points, George Miedecke, Craig Dontas and Rhys McNally are all tied on 120 points for third.

Harris remains in the lead of the ARMOR ALL Drivers Championship on 811points, ahead of Walton, who is now tied with Adam Marjoram for second on 734 points. George Miedecke sits in third on 695 points.

The V8 Utes will be back for their third and final race and round decider tomorrow morning at 8:55am, the race will be televised live on Fox Sports and Network Ten (AEDST, Check local Guides).
