Jamie is certainly having a great year so far ! After dominating his competition in the first three races of 2010, it was a tough head-to-head battle with Ford’s Mark Winterbottom in Bahrain that gives him four victories from four races !

It was a true Aussie Ford vs Holden battle in the style of Desert Storm in Bahrain! For the  entire 37 laps, Whincup’s Holden battled Winterbottom’s Ford for the win.

Winterbottom pulled  ahead early in the race which put Whincup in a charge for second ! By passing Holdsworth and then James Courtney, Whincup found himself in 2nd place by the 5th lap. By lap 8, he had taken the lead from Winterbottom and held on until the 22nd lap where he was still surprised to be doing battle with him.

The pressure applied by Winterbottom seemed to be working on Whincup as he miscalculated his turn and ended up off track in a relatively simple corner. He kept cool though, and was able to maintain the lead by getting back in form and on-track on the inside of the bend.

Meanwhile, Rick Kelly battled Shane Van Gisbergen to take third spot,  whilst Garth Tander’s day went from bad to worse when a Steven Richards nudge ended his race for the day. A six car pile up saw Jason Bright and Todd Kelly head back to the pits with major damage.

Whincup ran an impeccable race that resulted in a win from a third pole start in four races.
